The selection process consists of the following two stages:

Phase I – Written Exam

The written exam for Indian Naval Academy (INA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), and Air Force Academy (AFA) is divided into three sections: English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge (GK).

The written exam for Officers Training Academy (OTA) consists of two sections: English and General Knowledge.

The candidate has to clear a written exam to proceed to the next stage.

Phase II – Intelligence and Personality Test

The next stage after the written exam is the SSB Interview which consists of a personality test/interview. The SSB interview is divided into two stages. The first stage is an intelligence and personality test, followed by a psychology test which consists of an interview, group discussion, and conference round.

Note: Candidates who qualify in Phase-I are allowed to appear in Phase-II.

Candidates who qualify both the interview and document verification rounds are eligible for the medical examination.
